John Cooper began to imagine a new way of life while visiting his family’s
favorite spot near Hardy, Arkansas. Surrounded by the rushing streams and
beautiful scenery, the visionary founder of our company started to think about
how to make it possible for families to enjoy a life that was both relaxing and
invigorating, not just at vacation time, but all year round.
Mr. Cooper realized his dream not far from that very spot, with his first
community, called Cherokee Village. Today, Cooper Land Development is one of
the most established and well-respected community builders in the country, with
eight communities ranging from 900 to 36,000 acres in size. We've crafted
dozens of golf courses and lakes into our landscapes, and we’ve built millions
of dollars worth of recreational amenities. More than 100,000 families are now
part of a Cooper community.
Every Cooper community is located in a beautiful area, abounding with
recreational opportunities. We respect the land. In fact 25 to 30 percent of
the land is set aside for unspoiled common property.
Every Cooper community is an example of John Cooper’s dream, still being
pursued after 50 years.
